SCALING PAID AD PRODUCTION
Our in-house design team faced a significant challenge: scale ad production for thousands of brands and business partners advertising on the StudySmarter platform. Pressure from our sales team to deliver banners on time and on brand for our clients made it difficult to create custom banners for every client, especially with additional team priorities.
The banners help promote brands directly on the StudySmarter platform to millions of students in the DACH region, the UK, and the US. Take a look at the image below to see an example placement.
Our design team and sales were experiencing a scaling problem with many clients and limited internal design resources. This not only put pressure on our team to deliver ads, but it also impacted the relationship between our sales team and our B2B partners. The current process simply wasn’t effective and wasn’t a scalable solution, resulting in missed deadlines, burned-out designers and a frustrated sales team… and partners.
To tackle this, I implemented a set of optimised design templates, created in Figma. I focused on analysing our existing top-performing banner ads to identify layout and communication trends across them. With a hands-on workshop, I coached our team to use the templates effectively to create ads.
The result? For designers, a significant increase in ad-production speed. For our sales team, on-time and on-brand ads, based on top-performing assets and an average 2% click-through rate on banners.
